Together with Green Building Materials and EXIE, the new floor construction is being tested in existing homes. Hemp, grown locally by From Land to Property, is the main ingredient. The floor construction focuses on five sustainability themes: energy efficiency, home comfort, health, future-proofing and affordability.

The project is innovative, with a floor construction of certified biobased materials such as shells and EXIE CaNaDry, without chemical aggregates. This makes the system circular and biodegradable, with technical and sustainable benefits. The moisture-regulating properties ensure an optimal indoor climate with the aim of developing a biobased floor construction that can withstand humid conditions and is applicable in corporate housing as well as in new construction and restoration projects. The bio-based floor construction is virtually CO2 neutral, with materials such as sand, shells, hemp and wood having low or negative CO2 emissions.Collaboration with various partners has begun, and the focus for now is on construction speed, cost and easy installation. The project aims to minimize inconvenience to residents during renovations.
